NeoFuel is designed to be as data-efficient as possible, operating primarily as a tool to retrieve public fuel price data via an intermediate backend. Upon accepting the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, an anonymous account is created via Firebase solely to record that consent. No further personal data is stored in Firebase.
The protection of your personal data is a top priority for NeoFuel. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our app. NeoFuel is designed to be as data-efficient as possible, operating primarily as a tool to retrieve public fuel price data via an intermediate backend.
The processing of technical data (such as IP addresses) and location data is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR (Legitimate Interest). Our legitimate interest lies in providing a functional, secure, and performant app experience that allows users to find fuel prices nearby.
The creation of the anonymous Firebase account is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR (Consent). You explicitly consent to this processing by accepting the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy.
To provide real-time fuel prices, the app communicates with a backend infrastructure ("Cloudflare Worker") hosted within the European Union.
Request & Caching
When you search for fuel prices, your coordinates (if location services are enabled) or your manual search query are sent to our Cloudflare Worker. To ensure high performance and minimize API load, responses are cached for a maximum of 10 minutes. This cache is generated using an anonymized hashed key derived from the query parameters, ensuring that individual users cannot be re-identified through the cache.
Observability & Technical Logs
For technical monitoring, error analysis, and maintaining service security (e.g., protection against DDoS attacks), we use Cloudflare Observability. This logs technical metadata of requests, including the temporary processing of IP addresses. These logs are used exclusively for service stability and are automatically deleted after a short retention period.
API Forwarding
The request is forwarded to the external provider tankerkoenig.de to retrieve fuel price data. No personal identifiers (such as your name or device ID) are transmitted to this provider.
Firebase – Anonymous Account
Upon accepting the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, an anonymous account is created via Firebase Authentication. This account contains no personal data (no name, no email address, no device ID) and is used solely to record acceptance of the Terms of Service in a machine-verifiable way. No further data is stored in Firebase. The Firebase servers used for this processing are located in Frankfurt (Germany) and are therefore subject to the GDPR.
Internet Access
Required to fetch current fuel price information via our backend.
Location Services
If you grant permission, the app uses your GPS coordinates to show nearby gas stations. This location data is processed "in-flight" to generate the search results and is not permanently stored or linked to your identity.
Cloudflare
We use Cloudflare as a service processor to handle API requests securely and efficiently. Cloudflare processes technical data to route your request and protect the app from malicious traffic.
Google Firebase (Authentication)
We use Firebase Authentication by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland, to create anonymous accounts. Data is processed on servers located in Frankfurt (Germany). Only the data technically required to maintain the anonymous account is stored. For more information, see the Firebase Privacy Policy.

We use their public API to retrieve price data. Please refer to their own privacy policy for details on how they handle data on their end.

The anonymous Firebase account contains no personal data that would allow re-identification. All local settings within the app can be deleted at any time via the "Reset App" button in the settings.
